About

We read the paper so you do not have to

Long Life Report covers health and longevity research, and shows you the shape of the evidence before it makes an argument.

Most health claims reach you third hand. A press release describes a study, a news desk describes the press release, and somewhere along the way the sample size, the control group and the limits fall out. We start at the other end. We open the paper.

Every claim here is checked against the study itself, not against reporting of it. Each article names the study, its design and how many people it followed, and puts that at the top of the page rather than the bottom. A result drawn from a meta-analysis of forty thousand people and a result drawn from twelve volunteers are not the same kind of fact, and you should not have to dig to find out which one you are reading.

What counts as evidence

Strictest first: systematic reviews and meta-analyses, then randomised controlled trials, then large prospective cohorts. Anything smaller may be mentioned inside a piece and labelled as such, but never headlines one.

The medical line

We report what the studies found. We never tell you what to do. No dosing, no protocols, no personal advice, no diagnosis. That conversation belongs to you and your doctor, and every article page says so.

What we will not do

No supplement affiliate money, ever, at any commission. No sponsored content from a company whose product a piece assesses. No "one weird trick", no before-and-after pictures, no protocols to follow. If those rules ever cost us a piece, the piece goes.

When we are wrong

We correct openly and quickly, and we date the correction. See the corrections policy and our editorial principles.
